Tribute to a Master Storyteller

On Tuesday, November 18, 2008, dozens of fans and well-wishers took to the stage of Marquette's Kaufman Auditorium to celebrate their beloved teacher, author, historian, mentor, neighbor and master storyteller Fred Rydholm. The program began with a talk and slide show by Jack Deo of Superior View Studios in Marquette and Mackinaw City. Deo also played audio clips from past conversations and lectures with Fred Rydholm and other Marquette residents.

Former students, co-workers, city officials, friends and family members paid tribute to the man some call living history, sharing stories of their adventures with Fred over the past 75 years. Speakers from 12 to over 80 years old took turns relating how Fred influenced their lives.

In response, Fred managed to add a few words of his own to the evening's entertainment, commenting on stories of hiking the Bentley Trail, tree planting, and sloshing through the Yellow Dog Swamp.

This DVD features over two full hours of great stories about one of Marquette's greatest treasures.
