Henry Ford Stories by Fred Rydholm
Henry Ford, founder of The Ford Motor Company and father of the assembly line, took a personal interest in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Ford wanted to own all the raw materials that went into his automobiles, and he turned to the Upper Peninsula to gather them. Finding abundant timber, iron ore and a hearty workforce, he purchased and built mines, timber lands and saw mills. As a member of the Huron Mountain Club, Ford spent many years vacationing on the shores of Lake Superior, as well.
Fred Rydholm, Marquette Michigan's local historian, author and storyteller, came to know Henry Ford well over the years. Here, Fred relates several stories concerning his personal encounters with Mr. Ford, as well as other tales of Ford's ventures in the U.P.
This full-length DVD features Fred Rydholm's appearance at Marquette's Kaufman Auditorium on May 16th 2008 as well as selected portions of a subsequent interview. Historic photos from Jack Deo's Superior View Studios of Marquette and Mackinaw City complement Fred's stories.
